Sunday

On Sunday I set off to the Mulu Wengel (full gospel) church at Ketena Hulett.  Mulu Wengel is a pentecostal church which was founded when a group of students started a charismatic prayer group in 1971.  From these small beginnings it has grown to become the third largest evangelical church in Ethiopia.  The Kentena Hulett church is just a roof supported by iron pillars covering a large area of land next to the ring road.  It seats 5000 and looked full to me.  There was an hour of music by two choirs, followed by an hours sermon – my neighbour commented that he was an energetic preacher.  That’s an understatement, it was a huge and passionate  hour of preaching.  I’m getting used to long services – anything under three hours and I feel short changed.
